My client is an exciting and rapidly growing gene therapy startup at the forefront of innovation located in the South San Francisco who are currently undergoing an expansion due to recently securing a significant series A funding round. They are committed to revolutionizing the treatment landscape for genetic disorders and are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join their team as the to lead their Early Stage Process Development activities at a Principal Scientist or Associate Director level, or possibly Director for exceptional candidates.

As the Associate Director of Early Stage Process Development, you will play a crucial role in advancing our pioneering gene therapy programs. You will lead a talented team focused on developing robust and scalable processes for RNA and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Lead and Manage: Build and lead a team of scientists and engineers focused on early stage process development for RNA and LNPs.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and optimize scalable processes for the production of RNA and LNPs, ensuring high quality and reproducibility.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including research, analytical development, and manufacturing, to drive successful and seamless transition from early development to manufacturing scale-up.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and scientific advancements to incorporate innovative approaches into process development.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that processes adhere to regulatory guidelines and industry standards, contributing to the preparation of regulatory submissions.

Qualifications:
 
  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline experience in RNA process development in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in designing and optimizing processes for RNA and LNPs, with a focus on scalability and manufacturability.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for gene therapy products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
